Project Brief

Project brief

While reading through the project brief, I knew what idea I wanted to focus on. When understanding the project brief, I got the sense of slight confusion. I just wasn’t sure where to start; so, I asked my peer for help, and she helped me with a set of topics I should write about during my evaluation. This was incredibly helpful as it gave me a plan of what I need to undertake and outline, the most tricky and confusing part of evaluations for me is having to figure out what to start off saying, so with the help and explanation of my classmate I was able to come up with a suitable structure plan to include in my evaluation, as well as the starting sentence. For this project I want to go above and beyond to experience journalism like I haven’t before. I hope to focus on achieving an incredible goal with work that I’ve poured my soul into. I really hope that with my hard work I can achieve a merit or distinction and get into university so I can continue my study with journalism. In this project I want to be able to go to the best of my ability and produce work like I never have before. For this reason, I am going to focus on strengthening my skills and improve on my weaknesses that I have recognised throughout my time on this course.

My skills include of Audience knowledge, Ideas, Research, Website design, Pitching ideas, Communication, Microphone work and Analysis. These skills are useful to have as I can do work to pass but my skills aren’t enough to get the grades I’m hoping for, therefore my targets are highly important. My targets, threats and opportunities are Adding screenshots and images to work, Research, Planning, Camera work, Struggle with putting information together, Editing podcasts, Ai work, Camera work, Planning/ scheduling, develop writing and language skills, Editing, Time management, Anxiety, Forgetting to add certain detail to my Wix, for these targets I am going to aim at trying to get better at all of them over the weeks. I want to be able to achieve these targets and make them a strength, This is because Acknowledging my skills and targets for this project, allowed me to realise that I wanted to make a podcast because; podcasts are the type of media I want to focus on in university and my future career, so understanding and developing skills needed for podcasts are important to me now so that I can be ready for upcoming work and understand what to do.

For my FMP I chose to do a podcast as I’m very open and interested in this piece of media. I came up with a mind map of content I want my podcast to be about. I already knew I wanted to carry on doing social media and mental health for my final major project because that’s what I did in my previous project, and after a conversation with my tutor, we both discovered how amazing this topic is and how productive it can be. furthermore, because I have had experience in this first hand, and I acquire a lot of knowledge on the topic already and it makes it easier for me build on this and focus on the hardships, I face, to focus on what I need to achieve for my target grade. As mental health is the main topic I personally want to focus on for the rest of my career, its important I use this time in college to gain as much knowledge in how to do this as possible. Social media is so big right now, it’s everywhere that’s why when thinking of the main cause of mental health in adolescence comes up, the first example that comes to mind is social media and or the internet. Social media is on the rise to leading young adults and teens towards suicide that’s why I knew someone must act on it. The purpose of my idea is to help kids stay safe and use social media wisely, so they don’t get hurt by what’s out there. I also want to raise an awareness to everything that’s happened and why social media is bad from a scientific point of view. This will take lots of work and lots of research, but I am willing to put everything forward to achieve a result I couldn’t be prouder of.

For my podcast, I had to investigate my format; and for this I decided to keep it a visual podcast; this is because when having a serious topic like this its so important to connect with the audience, emotionally. Another reason why I chose to do camera work in this project is because it allows me to focus on my skills and targets for editing, video, camera and microphone. As this is my last project, I need to make the most out of the equipment in college and by producing work that I can use all the resources and gain knowledge sounds like a win-win situation. I hope that with this decision I made I can focus on my area of improvements and will help me will give me a clear overview of where I’m at and because ill be evaluating when I do something and how it went, I can read over that and see how much I’ve improved over this project and over this year as a whole.

After finishing my draft for the evaluation, my classmate and I, both read-over each others work and analysed it to get our final evaluation. This was helpful as I got another insight into my work and saw how to change over certain things to complete it.

I wrote down the main topics that I will include in my evaluation. My classmate helped me to think and decide on the topics for the evaluation. These were helpful as I could use this as a structure. I didn't do these in order as I created an order that was better for me. I will use in the future for every evaluation.

Proposal and pitch

When thinking about what I should do for my FMP, I spoke with my tutor which we both thought of the idea to recreate my last project idea but do further research and a podcast. A crucial factor that I added was the planning schedule, as this was my first time completing a plan. The production schedule will help me keep up to date with what I need to do, I started to note down what I will be doing weekly. By doing this I can begin to see how long everything will take and how quickly I will need to finish the project, I can also start to unwrap how and when things will be done. I used to never be sure on what I should start first but after making a schedule I hope it will help me to stay on track with my work and always know what to do next. Even if I don't fully stick with this, I can still track how much I need to do or how much time I will have left. Overall, the production schedule has helped me start off my project and I hope to follow this throughout the FMP.

After the proposal we started on making a pitch, for our pitches we had to design a PowerPoint to discuss our swot skills, what I hope to achieve for this project and what my project is all about, the pitch had to be clear, and the viewers should be able to understand why and how the project will be evolved. From my previous attempts at pitches, I would say this time I felt less anxious and more prepared while previously I would be anxious so I would rush my words or not say enough information. When I feel anxious when preforming, what I would do is miss out certain parts of my project because I would think that all my work is wrong and I will be laughed at or get marked down; so because I would feel this way when I got anxious, it means I have to try get out of that habit for this project. And for this project I told myself, multiple times, to take everything slow and read everything I have, this way I know I didn't miss anything and the slower I talk the quicker my brain can think of the right words. When I started my designing my pitch PowerPoint, I made sure to include the assorted colours and fonts I wanted that matched with the theme of social media, I also made extra slides that contain information about my slides that only I could see and read from. I did this because I didn't want to be reading from the slides the entire time, so I printed out everything and removed those extra slides from my PowerPoint. I did thus so I could read on from the PowerPoint with it in front of me. I practised the slides in front of my friends and to myself so I got a brief idea of how it would all go. Grahame and Dan gave me some feedback to help me with my next steps which I will speak about in my website. Grahame also mentioned that if I was unsure on how to find a guest for my podcast then he suggested I could find someone through my primary research. Overall, I think the presentation went well but I feel I could've done more. If I was to redo the presentation, I would take away a lot of the writing on my slides so the PowerPoint will only include the basics and with a script I can add and fill in that information, another difference I would make would be to research more into other pitches, I will in future look at other pitches from peers to make sure I have got everything that I need to have and also look at how they formatted their ideas. I think that by doing this I can be more confident, and my presentation will be up to the standard I was hoping for.

Research Evaluation

When doing my research there were lots of highs and lows. Before I started typing on the computer; I made some mind maps that stated my target audience, my editing style and structure, my research plan, how will I find people, and contextual research. I did this because it will help me understand what I need to research. I did this as a “plan”, because I always struggle with moving onto the next steps and actually doing the work consistently; I wrote these mind maps- this way whenever I feel as if I don’t know what to do next, I will look at my plans and realise how much more there actually is to complete. I thought this might help me stay on track. It did, whenever I’m researching, I haven’t stopped. This is the first time I have done some kind of plan, and I truly think this has helped me with my research. To start off I wrote about my target audience, this went well because I already had some strengths in this department, I knew what I wanted to do and knew what I had to say. I noted down all the types of target audience I would have. The next thing I did was look up the different between psychographics and demographics. I listed all the different types so that my audience are aware of what they mean and so I can focus on important little detail. After that I wrote about my buyer personas, for this I did 2, I did two to show two different sides. After that I wrote about my target audiences in little circles. This helps my reader understand where I got everything from and will understand who I’m aiming my project towards.

The next piece of research I did were making mind maps, these mind maps I used like a structure plan I wrote down the topics I want to cover and then information on those topics bellow. Like I would write down “history of social media” under contextual research, and bellow that I would write “where will it go”, the reason I do this is because research was a weakness for me and I always had trouble and this project I really wanted to achieve a good grade, but also work on my weaknesses and strengths. I came across someone else who got a distinction and looked at some of her techniques. This is where I found the idea of mind mapping. At first, I wasn’t sure out this would help me. But as I followed and researched on the topics I wrote about, it became a lot easier to think about my next steps. When following the plan, I gave myself, I realised how important research is; I also discovered that when I have it written down, it is easier to find sites and influence, as I now learnt the skills of how to search for the right topics. This helps me find valid responses and the information I was looking for. My main weakness was research, which led my projects to never be as full as they could be. For this project, my passion came first. I was inspired to do something that matters to me and by helping myself out as I go is so rewarding. Another research plans I have been following is that whenever I have finished a topic I will write down the list of things to complete next. By doing this I can stay on track and keep up to date with where I am and what I need to do. I found this extremely helpful as in previous projects I would waste my time by thinking “what do I need to do next,” I would always fall behind and not keep up. Therefore, by doing this plan of writing my steps down, like a checklist, I can stay more motivated and understand beforehand what I need to do. This project I have learnt so much in how to educate myself by staying on task. I feel my skills have majorly improved and I have found that I’ve discovered new strengths but also moving weaknesses to skills.

The next part of my research was about primary research. I decided I wanted to do all 3, focus groups, survey and interviews. For my survey I asked 6 questions and got 38 responses, I used the answers to determine what kind of production my targeted audience would want to watch. I received my answers and figured out if social media affects people, the gender it mostly affects and what people want to see the outcome being. My project is based for my target audience so understanding their opinions on this massive issue is crucial. I really enjoyed doing my survey as I got lots of different unique answers that's beneficial for my podcast. In future I may ask other questions, or I would add a ‘type your own response’ under the yes or no questions so I can figure out why they think that or for them to give me their response for why they believe certain things. I will add that target to my SWOT, for future projects. The next form of primary research I did was an interview, I've never tried this type of primary research before in my previous projects. But because I had a lot of weaknesses, I wanted to turn them into strengths and try to learn new skills, that’s why for my project I’m taking a step outside my comfort zone to learn new techniques that are so crucial to what I want to accomplish. My interview sessions were around 10 minutes long, but I only managed to get two people, hopefully in my future projects I can target myself to gain more people to do an interview. Overall, I feel the interviews went really well and I’m pleased with the information. I think interviews are very important to my project as I get to learn and understand different stories and reasoning, it also gives me a little practice of podcasting as I’m going back and forth conversation and questions with another person. The last primary research I did was focus group. I mentioned in my pitch that I wanted to do a focus group this project as I didn’t before. This project was very busy and I was constantly working on achieving the best of my abilities, as I was trying to do this, I lost time to sit a group of people down and have a conversation, I left it very late; currently as I’m writing this I don’t have time, but hopefully I can make a little time and get it done. To change this in future I will set myself a target that allows me to book in time slots in advance so that way I won't stress about it nearer the time. I’ve still got lots of learning to do to achieve my dreams, and mistakes are how I can change; that's why I’m noting down all my weaknesses along the way, so that I can work on them and turn them into strengths. I was able to complete my focus group which gave me lots of insight ideas of what we should do and it's also great to hear ideas from other students that may not affect them but understanding as a society what we could do. I feel focus groups are great for my project as I want to understand others opinions but with my generation it is hard to have a serious conversation with others as some people may not be serious. This made me realise I have a strength in keeping serious and not letting my emotions ruin my project.

The next type of research I did was my contextual research, I wrote down further details of my mind maps and the topics I want to achieve for my project. My podcast from my understanding, is made from everything I researched on. My research is so important; therefore, I wrote down the steps I will take in each section of my research, what I will search for and what that information does for my project and audience. My contextual research is so important for my project as I struggled with researching, so now I can plan it all out, and giving myself steps on what I needed to do was so helpful because by doing this, the more research I did, the more I understood what I was doing and then it embedded into my brain what I had to do. I learnt new strengths by doing this that I can use for future projects; this whole project was a learning experience, I learnt my own strengths and I learnt where I can improve for next time.

My next bit of research was on social medias harm on mental health. I looked at lots of different sources and found some information that’s valid towards my podcast because I wanted to include stats and facts; so, by researching on facts first is important before looking at other people's opinions. I feel as though I’ve gained a lot of strengths in my research as I went from copying and pasting a lot of information, whereas now I speak for myself and have inquired lots of new skills. I also looked on government websites to find information on mental health so I can determine if social media links with mental health. This was helpful to my audience so that I can speak about knowledge that I’ve found out about myself. My audience and project need to show understanding of what I’m trying to tell and the reason as to why. That's why my research is important for my project.

After that I moved onto guidelines. I add guidelines to my project because I want to understand these social media apps ‘protection’ against adolescences and adults. The reason to why this is so important to me is because I want to understand why the apps are so harming and what they intend to do to stop it. I want to be able to share that with my audience. Another reason as to why guidelines are important to research on is that I want to give my audience facts on how to stay safe online, and create new guidelines, I can’t create new ones if I don't know what they already are. That's why I’m doing as much research on them as possible so my audience can get information that’s important to their wellbeing's, I’ve got people expecting me to help them keep safe and hold valid information; that’s why the more research the better.

I next moved onto shows and influence, which includes my podcast research and my influencer research. A lot of my podcasts were linked with the same people, which I didn’t realise until I started writing about them. My podcast research had to be better than previous as I set myself targets to focus on everything, like camera angle, lighting, setting, the information and how it’s relevant to my project and audience. I made sure to talk about those throughout my research because that’s where my opportunities were at. I have a very creative mind so looking at these topics in the podcasts are so easy and fun for me to talk about, I just never really did it before. So, my main opportunity would be to achieve what I did this project. I am happy with my research but do wish I wrote more about the production and next time I will focus on writing more. With my influence I first spoke about Jonathan Haidt who is the social star of this topic. I wanted to include a lot of his ideas and knowledge into my podcast, that’s why I included all the information I had to help my podcast be filled with the right information and making my project clear of how I got there and what I did. The last part I did was Netflix shows, the first one was adolescence which I had watched previously, I re watched the show in 2x speed while making notes the whole time. I played it in 2x speed because I wanted to refresh my memory on the show but not waste hours on watching something I’ve already seen. For this I wrote down the information I got from it, the camera techniques and angles, location/ setting, lighting, music and sound then I wrote how it’s relevant to my project. The piper Rockelle documentary is the other Netflix show I was going to do. The issue is this documentary is over three hours long and because of all the other work I left it till last. I have already seen it, but I would need to watch it again so that I am 100% on the information and codes and conventions. I will try to get around to do it as I want my project being the best it can be. When I finish doing the documentary I will write more on it.

The next part of my research is about the history of social media and the future of social media; these are important as I wanted to learn where it came from so I can understand the link to mental health and help figure out my target audience. The future of social media is important because I want to understand where social media will be so I can plan ahead, giving my audience information that can be used when thinking about the future and where the media will be. This is important because I want to gain skills in all areas of research; this includes learning about past, present and future.

The final part of research I did was speaking about who’s affected, this is because I want to find out more about my targeted audience and who will understand and reflect on my project. My audience is a big part of research so by understanding a lot about them I can understand more about my project and the message being portrayed.

Overall, my research went better than last time but could still do with some more learning. My strengths at the beginning of my project were Audience knowledge, Ideas, Research, Website design, Pitching ideas, Communication, Microphone work, Analysis. My new strengths would be researching, ideas, website design, adding screenshots of everything, planning, pitching ideas and analysis. I feel I lacked with my communication skills as I was unable to talk to many people. Therefore, I would include that for a target. My weaknesses at the start were, adding screenshots and images to work, Research, planning, Camera work, Struggle with putting information together, Editing podcasts. My weaknesses now would include of time management, booking out times for primary research, adding more important detail and not waffle. The opportunities I had at the beginning were Ai work, Camera work, Planning/ scheduling, develop writing and language skills, editing. I feel as though I learnt a little on Ai work but there's more to learn; another thing I have learnt is planning and scheduling. I never did this before, but my project this time was full of it. My opportunities for next time would be to speak with more people about primary research and remember little important details. Lastly my threats at the star were Time management, anxiety and forgetting to add certain detail to my wix website. This time I’ve improved on my wix website but my time management and anxiety around the work is still a big threat.

Production evaluation

My production was a ride of emotions, a learning experience and overall, extremely exciting. Firstly, I booked out my room which the original room I wanted (TV Studio 1) turned into Radio Studio 1. Even though my original room was taken this was for the better, because the room I was in had the most amazing background, that was similar to the podcast by Andrew Huberman. I loved the design set up because it brought my research into my production even more. The next thing I did was set up my equipment, I did short vlogs of this to explain thoroughly and show what I did and how I did it. I really like the idea I had about this, and I thought it was a very helpful and descriptive way of showing my skills. This was a technique and skill I learnt from this project, the idea of making short vlogs is something I will now continue to do in the future. When moving onto my production filming, I made lots of mistakes which are my targets for the future. The first target is researching the buttons and equipment I will be using. This is a target because it’s important I learn about how to use the equipment and understand what it is I want to achieve, how to achieve it and have a wider base of knowledge on what to do if something went wrong. In this project I wasn’t fully aware on the understanding of how the Rode caster works; therefore, I didn’t know that red means recording, green means its off. I thought green meant it was on. That's why I knew I had to do some research after and keep this a target for the future. The next issue I had was when I was recording, I lost some of the video, I didn't notice until I was editing, this way in future my new targets would be to double check I have all the takes. To overcome the issue, I edited the video from a different angle. The next thing I did was have some issues during recording, these were only minor issues, but I would interrupt the guest at certain times, this was bad when I listened back because it was very unprofessional and rude. Next time I do a project I will make sure to leave a second gap after they finish, this way I won't interrupt. The conversation was slow at the start, but it got better throughout, next time I will remember to do a practice round so the guest and I are both comfortable and know what we will say. Another target to set myself for future projects is about planning my research and production further and more substantial information. I had background noise which would be solved if I pressed record. Overall, I have learnt lots of new skills and new targets to work on in the future, but I have learnt so much compared to my previous projects. With my new skills and understanding abilities to create a better performance, I will use that to my advantage to gain new skills and gain more knowledge. I came into this project not knowing much around 10%, and preformed around 50%, but now by doing this project I have realized where I've gone wrong and I’m able to see where the other 50% I need to put in. Because I’ve learnt so much and the things I can get better at, my later projects will be filled with information and preformed to 100% of my abilities.  My production at times went really blurry, I discovered this after I uploaded everything because while I was editing, it seemed to be completely fine. I am unsure if it's my screen, or the actual podcast itself. But there's lots of improvement areas and areas which I failed at. But overall I learnt lots of new skills and lots of new techniques for the future.

Final Evaluation.

AO1 I wanted to do my final project on something that I care about and means a lot to me. Which is mental health; because mental health is such a big topic I had to narrow it down. That’s why my tutor and I decided to Build off the themes of previous projects about this subject matter. My last project was a magazine article about the harms of social media on our mental health. For this project I am furthering my knowledge and learning new heights. I am passionate about saving and helping others. Because of the struggles I have been through, I really wished there was someone to tell me these harms or what I can do to remain safer; therefore, I want my project to be a personal reflection that can help others in that situation I was in. Thankfully now I do understand the harms and the troubles so with my advice and knowledge I will help others get to their healthy point. I understand the value of support and how valid raising awareness is, so I will make my project a guide for others to gain support and help, while understanding how my audience can remain safe themselves. With the impact of social media becoming even more apparent it’s the perfect time to take action. So, with my experience, knowledge and passion I know I can drive towards making a piece of content that’s so valid and so helpful towards my target audience. I have taken into consideration about the timing of this as social media is only growing bigger and harming more people. That’s why my project is at the perfect time so the younger generation understand these harms before being completely wrapped in it, and the older generations can reflect on the harms and understand before it’s too late. The ethical considerations that I enquired were the ideas of mental health, I linked up stats, facts and articles that were around the involvement of mental health. I did this because I want to have all the knowledge of how others feel, the overall percentage for mental health and what the cause is. My cultural considerations are my audience, my audience is such a wide diversity because I want to understand their thoughts on social media, how they react and use these apps, why they use them and what do they want to see. Understanding what they want is incredibly important as I want to give my audience the advice that they want, and help them, the way I will help my audience is by understanding what they want to have changed around social media and how their mental health is affected.

AO2 I chose this topic because I want to help people and by understand how others feel around social media. This topic is important for the world because it effects most people, but I also believe that this topic will help me get closer to achieving my goal of saving others’ lives. I chose this topic because the world is slowly crashing down in the fields of social media and mental health so by bringing together the idea that I can help and communicate these strategies towards others so they can remain safe. I have learnt lots of new skills during this project as I pushed myself to my full abilities, these skills include of, research, planning, camera work, set up and website design, audience knowledge, adding screenshots, linking and podcast editing, these skills were the ones that I’ve adapted throughout the project, I also gained some weaknesses such as: microphone work – this is because I had trouble understanding the rode caster mic recorder, but I know what to do for the future, time management but I know I'm getting better at this and can adapt myself to become better. The last weakness I have is my ability to understand what I've done is correct, what I mean by this is that I have been overthinking my project and I am unsure if I have done and completed the correct things, if I have written the right words and if my project will reach the grade I’m hoping for. My threats and opportunities are about my anxiety, I want to overcome that fear of doing it wrong, I also want to work on my ability to write and submit the correct things. My aim of this project is to understand the struggles people face with social media and apply a good set of ideas to keep their mental health safe when on these apps, I changed a lot of things throughout this project like my room that I will be filming, this was because the room was booked, but it worked out a lot better and I was satisfied with my set design. I also changed lots of little details like the things I will say or want to achieve. I feel as though I haven’t been able to share my actual structured idea and not sure if my ideas have come across well. Another weakness I have is to share my concept idea and what my main goal is. I know my main goal is to keep others safe and spread awareness by telling them what to do, but I feel in my next project I can be set on one topic question that I will make sure to answer throughout my project.

AO3 My primary research helped me develop my project further, because I collected real opinions of how social media harms our mental health; this was also helpful because I got to understand how others feel and can interpret different goals and skills for my audience to learn about. My primary research gave me more ideas on what other people, adolescence’s, will want to change in future to help them remain safe online, and by reading their results I can figure out what they want to change, this way I can think of new ways to keep them safe that I know my audience will want. This also allowed me to gain further information on the fact that there is a link to mental health and social media, I had lots of research from websites and other influencers stating this but thanks to my primary research I can properly explore and understand that there is something linked together. This way I can use all aspects of my research to understand what my audience want. Jonathan Haidt was my main inspiration as he is fully involved in children's usage of social media; he has made me more aware of situations and has developed my knowledge in social medias harm, he has lots of stats and opinions on what has happened with the world and I agree with what he says so therefore he is a perfect example of what I’m looking for. I also investigated podcasts to get an idea of what I want to do in mine, this gave my lots of starter questions for my guest to build on, but it also helped me structure my set design and how I want my podcast to look, feel and be like. The next thing I did was learn about the future and history of social media, by learning this I can work out when social media came into play with mental health and where I think it will go. By understanding this I can build on my original ideas to help my audience in the future and present. Because social media is always evolving it’s important to stay on top of what’s happening. The next piece of research I did were guidelines, because I wanted to cover guidelines in my podcast and what guidelines should be put in place, it’s important for me to understand what guidelines are already there, that way I can determine what needs to change or what could be added. I also researched on recent trends which were some Netflix shows on social media; by doing this I can understand where our generations minds are at and some of the extreme harms that are happening. Because my audience will be younger it’s important to understand where they think social media is at but also reflecting onto what needs to be done with a level of knowledge that they will understand. I feel as though the research I did was so valid to my understanding because I got so many different versions on what’s happened but its so far fetch that everything has linked together, I made sure to use all my research in order to create my podcast and script. Everything I researched on is somehow embedded into my podcast and by understanding where it came from allows me to create a piece of media that can support others and help them. My podcast is all about helping my audience remain safe and I learnt my techniques through my primary and secondary research. Overall, I think my research was important and valid to my project and helped me stable my ideas.

AO4 I have explored new availabilities for skills and have adapted throughout my project, my first skill that was reflected majorly was the idea of planning, I have managed to plan out what I needed to do and when, by doing this I have got better at time management, my research has also improved majorly by this because I can now plan ahead what I want to get done, my plans were also including of mind maps, these mind maps made it easier for me to understand what I need to focus on within that topic. This also helped me get better at searching what I want to find. By understanding what to type into google it gave me improved results that I was then able to figure out exactly what I was looking for and what I want to write about. My overall research and planning have improved so much and I’m incredibly happy with the outcome. I made some mistakes along the way like forgetting to press record, but I used this as a learning curve to realise that I should research about my equipment before starting a production. I did my research after it all happened because getting it wrong is what made me realise that I had to educate myself first. By researching this it helped me so much by gaining new skills and overcoming the challenges that were thrown at me. My overall production had lots of issues and downsides, but because I am using this to grow my learning I have far more opportunities for next time; I also understand what I will need to do and research on in later projects. I wanted to cover over the challenges of my podcast like the interviewing aspect of podcasting. I want to understand how sensitive this topic could be and understand the challenges I’ve faced. My production took a lot of skills and understanding to preform, I also had to understand how to set up and film while making sure everything is appropriate for my guest. My issues whilst filming consisted of forgetting about the microphone which defiantly was a learning curve, but I was able to create a plan for how to work around this, the start of the podcast where we was talking slowly, this got better throughout the project but was quite bad at the start. To overcome this I will do a practice run so were already prepared, I will also make sure my guest is clear on the topic and what we will be speaking about. My skills for this would be communication, as I am good at holding up a conversation, I can connect with my audience making the conversation flow, this was developed throughout the podcast. The next thing is about the fact I kept interrupting my guest, this was annoying to listen back to, and I fear I do it a lot. In future I will remember to let my guest talk and finish, I will be patient and give a second gap in between each person that talks. This will also tie into my communication, and I will remember these weaknesses for future projects in hope of being able to submit a better conversation. The camera facing me went blurry at one point for no reason, I will speak with my production crew in future and always double check everything is clear. This also ties into my production research as I need to fully research what I want to achieve so I can understand everything. The next issue I had was the idea that the video disappeared, in future I will use other cameras and check all the SD cards before and after straight away to make sure everything is saved and there. This is another one of my production research skills. Overall, so far, I understand that a lot of my weaknesses are about my lack of researching production skills. I am gaining skills of research and planning so in future projects I will enable my research and planning into productions as well. The last issue I had was the echo, this was annoying, but I will make sure the mic is recording and I will fill up the room with lots of items for a decreased chance of space making it less echo. This was an issue of my lack of microphone skills which to overcome this in future I will do further research on production and the skills I need to learn about in order to create media valuable. Overall, I have been very effective in understanding where I need to improve and where my skills are. I have determined how I will get to that point and my processed learning along the way. My skills have improved, and I have gained more weaknesses, but I am able to pick that out and I can understand where my issues and skills are.

AO5 I have understood my goals that I want to achieve for the next project, I have targets set and by failing at certain things I have developed better knowledge in other aspects of my production. My weaknesses aren’t weaknesses they’re learning curves. I’ve set myself lots of targets to make my project better. These are all so valid in helping me exceed. These targets are mostly about researching more, I will remember in future projects to research on production and equipment that I’ll be using, I will research more on the way these podcasters talk, like their conversation flow and the way they pronounce that “influencer” voice, adding more detail in primary research and also planning out when I’ll do my primary research. I have adapted to new forms of skills that I haven't done before, this includes of focus groups and interviews, using new equipment, trying new forms of research and I've extended to new heights in my overall project, since my previous ones. I wanted to go beyond what I've done before, this was why I am determined to get the grade I want, I used this project to try and see my full potential, learn more, find areas to improve and find my skills. I think this project has taught me a lot about where I need to improve and where my skills really are, the skills I have learnt is my ability to research, because I can understand what I need to research and say, I also understand how to link my research to my podcast. The next skill I’ve learnt is about understanding what I need to do, I have thought thoroughly about my work, I've spoken to tutors about what I need to write and taking their advice to preform something great. I watched lots of professionals doing this to get the factors of the professionalism, all the podcasts, news and shows I've watched speak with a professional and serious manner. Lots of people in my age range can't take anything seriously, that's because they will laugh or mess about, say inappropriate swear words. I adapted to the seriousness, and I felt my professionalism was good in the podcast.

AO6 I wanted to engage with my audience, so I selected all my knowledge from podcasts, guidelines, stats, and other forms of my research to create a rough script for my podcast. I asked my guest questions that related to my project and I spoke about the ideas I got from my research, I did this because I wanted my audience to acknowledge my research skills and I wanted to preform media with what I found rather than whatever I think of. These outcomes relate to my audience because my project is aimed at them, they are the centre, and I need to make my production as beneficial to them as possible. So, by relating my work with my research my audience can identify where the information is coming from, and they will begin to believe me more as I’m speaking with experience and knowledge.

AO7 Throughout this project, I have been pushing my research and planning skills so much, I have done this because I want to fully understand how to perform a piece of production that will be inspired by my research. I decided to make lots of mind maps and lists of what I need to do. This helped me because I was able to keep on track of my tasks, keep remembering what I needed to complete next and helped me with my time management, my plan at the start was helpful at the beginning but then I wanted a better plan with the topics I needed to do, that's when I started to draw mind maps and checklists for everything, there was a new check list every week. But this helped my project because I knew what I had to do and was able to complete it with my time management skills. These new techniques will help me understand what I need to do in the future and how to adapt to become better. Overall, these new skills make my work and performance more professional, and this will help develop my future into a better production. I feel I could have communicated my ideas more and made my project explain thoroughly what my ideas were. I feel to get around this I will write one sentence or question down and that's what my project will be based on, this way I will then understand exactly what's happening and my audience will fully understand my ideas.

AO8  When I started my project, I didn't really have any idea what I wanted to do, so I decided to gain as much knowledge about what I needed to do to aim towards an amazing grade. I developed new strategies and tried techniques I haven't tried before, I started creating a plan and set out lists for what I was going to do, at the start I was a little clueless and followed along with my plan and looking at other inspirations. The next thing I did was start to do mind maps and checklists which I found easier, more efficient and more precise. I didn’t follow through with my original plan, but I used skills and techniques to develop a new way of planning that suits me best. The planning I did helped me reflect on where I need to improve because my targets are made by my mistakes, but I have adapted and learn how to overcome my weaknesses by noting down what I can do in future to stop that from happening.
